Richard has taken the adventurous path in life, leaving virtually no stone unturned in his quest for knowledge. Born in Los Angeles area, Richard grew up near the beach and spent his youth experiencing everything from being a formula race car driver to working as a cabana boy. After dashing off to the Caribbean to work in the petrochemical industry for a few years, he returned to to pursue a career in the restaurant industry. He opened DK's West Indies Bar in San Luis Obispo with a good friend, then moved on to study wine on the Central Coast. He became the food and beverage manager at a 4-star hotel in Morro Bay, but missed the urban life and subsequently moved to Seattle. He worked in varying capacities at several Seattle restaurants including Stars and Fandango before joining Ray's five years ago as a fine dining server in our Boathouse restaurant. He also created the wine list at Stumbling Goat Bistro in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood for friend and owner Erin Fetridge.
Charmingly inquisitive, personable and passionate about food and wine, Richard is the perfect match for Ray's trademark hospitality, sustainable local cuisine and commitment to distinctive Northwest, domestic and international wines. His philosophy is to craft a wine list that will appeal to the enthusiastic novice and enophile alike, providing exceptional and memorable selections at an attractive price.
