Celebrate the Incredible Fish Story!

wayne-copper-riverAs a Seattle native and a hospitality leader since the mid 1980’s, I have fond memories of the first arrival of the Copper River King Salmon to Seattle in 1983.  At the time, I was the dining room manager at Triples Seafood Grill on Lake Union, which is now McCormick & Schmicks Harborside.  Local seafood guru Jon Rowley and others were actively involved in marketing this fish to its full potential, and the prized fish received more attention than several famous movie stars!

Flash forward a few decades, and Ray’s is excited to be celebrating our 40th birthday on June 23 and we have some special plans to commemorate the Copper River King’s 30th anniversary together!  It’s a terrific way to partner with this beautiful fish that is truly in a league of its own.

Ray’s transformed the minds of Northwest diners in the 1980’s by recommending red wine pairings with salmon, and we are proud to continue that delicious tradition.  As a part of our 40th birthday festivities, we are offering a trio of dinner events in June, saluting the mighty Copper River King along with our entire list of Pinot Noir wines.  The 3-course dinners are specially priced at $40, and our entire list of Pinot Noirs are featured at 50% off the bottle price when you order the special dinner.

Executive Chef Wayne Johnson and Executive Sous Chef Joe Ritchie have created three amazing menus for the events, which will be June 6, 13, and 20 in the Boathouse dining room.  Wine Director Richard Kelsey will be on hand to share his passion for Pinot Noir and provide expertise about his selections.  More details, including complete menus, can be found at this link.

This is truly an exciting time for us in the Northwest and we look forward to celebrating this annual Rite of Spring with you!
